Moro Insurance Group is pleased to offer a dental insurance program through Guardian Life Insurance Company and the American Business Insurance Trust, also known as A.B.I.T.  Who is eligible for this Dental Plan?

Self-employed individuals and their families are eligible.  Employees and family members who are not offered a group dental plan through their employer, members of associations or chamber groups are also eligible.

When is the open enrollment period?

In addition to your initial dental plan start date, your group will have an annual open enrollment period beginning February 15th through March 15th of each year for an effective date of April 1st.  All those employees or dependent family members that waive enrolling at the start of your dental plan are eligible to apply during this annual open enrollment period.  As an example, if you begin your plan October 1st, the next open enrollment begins February 15th of the following year.  Eligible employees or dependents must apply on or before March 15th.  A letter reminding you of this open enrollment is sent to enrolled members.

Will my rates increase each year?

There is a possibility that rates will increase effective with the April 1st renewal date.  Dental providers re-negotiate their contract each year.  When demand for service is high and inflation is added in, the costs for dental services will increase.  Guardian wants to provide choices for their members.  The cost of bringing more dentists into their network may also add to the cost of your premium.

Is there an administrative fee for this plan?

Yes, there is an administrative fee for the plan.  It is difficult for an insurance carrier to issue a comprehensive dental plan on a voluntary basis.  Only those needing dental services will enroll in the program.  Cost is greatly reduced when it is offered through a group plan with a minimum number of members participating.  Moro Insurance Group contracts directly with Guardian to administer this plan by pooling together otherwise ineligible insureds, thus the American Business Insurance Trust (A.B.I.T.) was created.  We provide a service to those employees that want dental coverage but are not offered it through an employer, to those who are self-employed and will not qualify for a group plan, or to employees of a group that cannot meet minimum participation requirements of the insurance company.  We also provide a service to the insurance company as we absorb part of the administrative costs.  The administrative fees collected will go to costs associated with negotiation for plan design and rates, i.e., correspondence to our members, postage, billing software and supplies, plan changes, terminations and reinstatements, and other customer service to our members.

What billing modes are available?

We offer preauthorized payments withdrawn from your checking or savings account on a monthly basis; there is a $5 monthly fee added to each employer bill.   For those that don't want preauthorized pay, we will also bill on a monthly basis; this fee is $10 per month.  The quarterly fee is $20.  Keep in mind, this is not a billing fee but an administrative fee for this program.
